How do I shut off my mozilla firewall protection so printer can work?

Posted by admin in firewall protection on 04 26th, 2009

printer not working so tried everything but don’t know how to shut off firewall

There is no Mozilla firewall

Either Windows firewall which wont stop printing usually unless you need to allow the exception for file and printer sharing - only if your printer is connected across a network and not straight to your pc.

Look in your system tray, bottom right, next to the clock, to see if you have something like Norton, mcafee, kapersky running and there you can probably right click and exit it.

What kind of software do you use to protect your computer?

Posted by admin in protect your computer on 04 26th, 2009

What FREE software do YOU use to keep your computer protected? and do you like that software?

I've been using the following for over a year & haven't had any problems.
Avast Antivirus, Auslogic Defrag, MalwareBytes AntiMalware.

I used to use
Lavasoft Adaware, AVG Antivirus and Spybot Search & Destroy

I like my current free software better.
AVG Antivirus let a virus through that Avast was able to clean & would have protected me from had I been using it from the start.

Adaware & Spybot are still alright applications, I think MalwareBytes does a better job & it's less cumbersome.

Auslogic Defrag is FAR faster that the Windows defrag program.

And there you have it, my 2 cents.

Looking for good free firewall protection?

Posted by admin in firewall protection on 04 18th, 2009

I am looking for good software to protect my PC against unwanted ads etc etc….

I need some good free firewall to protect the PC…

I have been recommended the following two are these any good?

Lavasoft?

Zone alarm?

Anyone else have any recommendations on a good strong and powerful firewall..
I hear the stronger the firewall the better the protection…

Help please ;)

Thanks….

Zone alarm is awesome. I used it in college and I use it now and it works perfectly. It can alert you as to people trying to hack your computer, and it prompts you when something on your computer is trying to connect to the internet. Very good and it has a free version and pay version. I use free version without problems.

How to protect your computer from someone being able to review your im friends?

Posted by admin in protect your computer on 04 18th, 2009

They have software, where anyone can get on your computer and trace all of your Messenger visits with your friends. But, is there a way to prevent someone from having that ablility?

Here's what you need to do.
1st, don't waste your time with AVG, spybot, ad aware, CA, spyhunter, superantispyware, avast, panda, kaspersky, windows defender or anything of the sort. Stay away from anything that is FREE when it comes to spyware and antivirus. There is a reason why they free. They are NOT good.
2nd, You need some of the best software out there. Norton Systemworks is very good. That's the only good software from Norton. I wouldn't recommend Norton Internet security, its not that great. Now the best software you should get is Spysweeper with Anti-virus, this software is too good and gets better everyday. This is elite software. It blocks over 174,500 threats. No other software can compete with that or come close for that matter. It catches everything. I've used them all and it is 2nd to none.
3rd, I recommend a Firewall from Zone Alarm, their free version is so good. Or you can buy their Pro version, but the free version will do more than the job.
4th, Zone Alarm also has an IM Secure program that is very good. It works great with AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and others.
5th, Any probs during or after you do all this, send me an e-mail.
